class=\"wp-caption-text\">Gates to Jewish Cemetery<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday, we ventured into Chinatown, Little India, and then to the Jewish Cemetery.\u00a0 The cemetery is on Zainal Abidin Road, but was called Jahudi Road in the past.\u00a0 The Indian-Malaysian caretaker lives in the cemetery with his family and was happy to open the gates and show us class=\"wp-caption-text\">Grave<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>One grave in the cemetery is kept up by the British government.\u00a0 It is that of Eliaho Hayeem Victor Cohen, a Lieutenant\u00a0 in the British Indian Army killed in an accident on 10 October 1941.<\/p>\n<p>The Penang Jewish Community reached its peak numbers around 1900.\u00a0 Today only some Russian refugees are said to class=\"wp-caption-text\">Hameediya Restaurant (established 1907)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>We went to the Hameediya Indian-Malay restaurant for lunch.\u00a0 Physically, it is not much to look at, but the food is great and cheap.\u00a0 We had some rendang beef, Laura&#8217;s favorite dish, as well as curry, martabah, and naan.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3074\"
